After nearly one year since EquiSketch Records 1.0 was released, EquiSketch Records 1.5 is now available on the App Store. This app has grown and changed in more ways than I ever imaged and this is the most feature packed update with several new features, performance improvements and of course, a few bug fixes.
iOS 4 Required
The biggest change is the requirement of iOS 4.0 or higher. This was not an easy decision as there will be some users who will not be able to upgrade, however with iOS 5 announced, a majority of active devices using iOS 4, and most of the new features in this and future versions of EquiSketch Records requiring iOS 4, it is something that is needed for the future of EquiSketch.
Local Notifications
Never forget important dates again! Reminders will now automatically generate a local notification that will display at a specific time, depending on the type of reminder:
- Pre-set Time (Default 8 AM, change in Settings)
- Birthdays
- Farrier
- Dental
- Coggins
- Breeding
- Vet Visits
- Preventative Medications
- Specific Time (as set in the record)
- All Notes
- Training
- Preventative Medications
Settings
A new settings menu allows you to change the background or set the time for the Pre-set Time notifications listed above. Choose from the original Fence background, a new Grass background or a simple blank black background. More backgrounds will be coming in future updates.
Search
Horses, Reminders, Riders and Shows are now searchable. At the top of the list is a search box, simply tap and type to search the list.
Coggins
As highly requested, Coggins Tests are now recordable, complete with Reminders and Notifications. Simply tap on a horse and you'll see a Coggins section listed in the "Medical" portion of the horses records.
History
Changing the size or weight of a horse will automatically create a history record. The history records can be viewed by tapping the indicator next to the size and history fields of each horse. Furthermore, past history can be added or edited at any time.
Performance Improvements
Finally, I have reviewed several different areas of the app and found a few places for improvements, especially with large numbers of horses and reminders.
- Large lists of horses and riders with images will now load much faster.
- Reminders now only load 90 days by default. Tap "Load All" to view all the reminders.

Hi, love the app so far.
Have a couple suggestions.
- would it be possible on the horse page to get numbers for federations added? Like usef, jockey club, usea exc.
Also for riders?
Also what about being able to scan in or save coggins, or medical records?

Jaclyn, Thanks for the suggestions. These are both features I am planning to add in a future update but for now you should be able to take a picture of the coggins or medical records with the iPhone or iPad and then use the image as part of the record. If you scan them in with a scanner as a jpg or png, you can also add it to the record after the picture is on the device. I hope that helps and keep the suggestions coming!
